WHAT IS COMING UP FOR GRADE 7s and 8s...

Here are a few things you should see around the house this weekend:

Grade 7:
ENGLISH:  Students are working on their good copy of their Children's stories. DUE TUESDAY! Must have a note if it is not complete due to a family emergency or unavoidable incidents...

GEOGRAPHY: Memorizing provinces and capitals!

Grade 8:
English: Good copy of disgusting meal due on TUESDAY.... (Needs cover page!! ;)
History: Test on Cavemen and early Mesopotamia next week!   

GRADE 7 and 8 ENGLISH

Congratulations...your children are brilliant!

I am SO impressed with their grasp of literary devices!

What we have been learning so far:
**Ask your child to explain these to you!!

1. Similes (Example: She is as beautiful as an angel)
2. Metaphors (Example: She is an angel)
3. Alliteration (An angel named Angela aged awfully)
4. Onomatopoeia (PING! an Angel got her wings)
5. Hyperbole ( The angel had tried a million times to get her wings but didn't)
6. Tone/mood/genre: Drama/comedy/mystery etc.

 

FALL GOOD COPY GRADE 8s...due tomorrow.

Student example:

Death to All Leaves

In the fall, I like jumping in the maple leaves. The leaves on the trees fall off and die.  They turn from green to orange, yellow, red, and pink.  Some times they are a fried up brown: Crispy...just enough to crunch.  I often rake them at my house. “WEEE!”  They smell like raked up earth, and they feel like slugs and worms.  They are crunching because of all the sticks. 

For Halloween, I still go out trick-or-treating.  Last year, I went with my father and my little cousin.  I dressed up like a little zombie. I had a big sword and fake lantern.   Some of my favourite treats are Mars bars, Arrows, Kitkats and the fake dollar coins in tin foil. There were some I could not eat because they had peanuts in them.

The temperature is cold out…especially when you go swimming: But you have to enjoy the weather while you can! I miss the summer because I can no longer go to the beach.

History student example number 2

Havana Pacavios:

Student profile: Havana Pacavios is very big, stalking and has very large feet. He is not very bright.  Havana comes to school, barely dressed in animal skins. He often does not wear a shirt.  Havana does not have a very big vocabulary of words, and often speaks in grunts.

C+  

ART:  Havana is okay at drawing water buffalos,  however, he is excellent at drawing rhinos. He often chooses to draw in black and yellow. He has a hard time sharpening spears and making knives; He has even cut himself.

A+

Health Class: Havana is great at picking berries, and is great at spearing fish.  He makes a delicious fish-slop.  He makes big meal, because he is always on the go.   

B-

Geography: Havana is having a hard time locating empty caves, and sometimes finds himself in bear caves.  He has even got bit.  He is unable to make a good fire, and often ends up hitting his hand with rocks, or burning himself.

D+

Gym class: Havana is mediocre at stone lifting,  and rock throwing.  He is not comfortable with swimming, because he feels it is not necessary to learn.  He is great at spearing caribou.

Art: Nothing sometime use’s charcoal animal blood flower dye to draw animal pictures. Sometimes he draws outside the lines and other times he scribbles a lot. He gets a B+

 

Health:  nothing doesn’t get sick a lot on flu season because he eats a lot of healthy food such as apples, oranges, berries, fish chicken ext.… He gets an A+

 

Geography: nothing try’s really hard in class he builds structures’ with the supplies that are given. He has built bone house, farms, stonewalls and wooden house which are really cool. He gets an A

 

Gym: nothing he would always try to catch a chicken but he always trips and falls mean while his class mates already caught there chickens. Nothing is excellent at running from animals not the other way around. He gets a D
